Coronary Procedures

Coronary procedures restore blood flow to the heart by opening blocked arteries, relieving symptoms, and reducing the risk of future heart problems.

Opening Arteries, Restoring Life

Minimally Invasive Solutions for Blocked Arteries

Coronary procedures are specialized treatments designed to improve blood flow to the heart muscle by addressing blockages or narrowing in the coronary arteries. These procedures are often recommended for people with coronary artery disease, angina (chest pain), or after a heart attack.

Common coronary procedures include:

  • Coronary Angioplasty (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, PCI): A catheter with a small balloon is guided to the blockage. The balloon is inflated to widen the artery, restoring blood flow.
  • Stent Placement: Often performed along with angioplasty, a small mesh tube (stent) is placed in the artery to help keep it open long-term.
  • Atherectomy: A device is used to remove plaque buildup from the artery walls before or during stent placement.

How It’s Done:
A thin catheter is inserted into a blood vessel in the wrist or groin and guided to the heart using imaging technology. Once in place, the chosen procedure is performed to open the blocked or narrowed artery.

Recovery & Benefits:
Most patients go home the same day or the next morning. Recovery is typically quick, with return to normal activities in a few days. Benefits include:

  • Improved blood flow to the heart
  • Relief from chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Reduced risk of heart attack
  • Improved quality of life and exercise tolerance
