Electrocardiogram
An ECG is a brief, non-invasive test that records the heart’s electrical activity to assess rhythm and detect abnormalities.
Know Your Rhythm, Protect Your Heart
CASL Health offers ECG testing designed to catch concerns early and keep your heart on track.
An ECG is a non-invasive test that records the electrical signals in your heart. It involves placing small, sticky patches (electrodes) on your chest, arms, and legs. These connect to a monitor that tracks how your heart is beating—its rhythm, speed, and pattern. This quick test helps us identify irregular heartbeats, signs of strain, or changes in heart function. It’s painless, takes just a few minutes, and provides valuable insight.
Why Might I Need One?
Your provider might recommend an ECG if you’re experiencing symptoms like:
- Chest pain or pressure
- Dizziness, shortness of breath, or fatigue
- Irregular heartbeats or palpitations
It may also be done before a surgery, to monitor medications, or as part of your routine heart care.
Is It Safe?
Absolutely. ECGs are widely used because they’re fast, low-risk, and completely non-invasive. The most you might feel is a bit of skin sensitivity when the electrodes are removed.
What to Expect
There’s no prep needed—just wear something comfortable. During the test:
- You’ll lie down in a private exam room.
- Electrodes are placed on your chest, arms, and legs.
- The monitor records your heart’s activity.
- The entire process usually takes under 15 minutes.
After the Test
You’ll be able to return to your day right away. Your provider will review your results and follow up with you about next steps, if any are needed.
